his is the life of the “White Lady” (cocaine) who has destroyed many lives, and doesn’t care that she has become this generation’s biggest nightmare.

About the Author

Mary Helen was born in Cherryville, NC and raised by her mother and grandparents who were full of wisdom.

She graduated from Highland High School in Gastonia, NC in May of 1956. For a short while she attended Gaston College in Dallas, NC and majored in Interior Design.

Mary Helen is the proud mother of four children. She always says, “It wasn’t easy raising four children and getting them through college, but thank God, he made it possible.”

In 1984, Mary Helen moved to Washington, DC. She later retired from the DC HFA (telecommunications).

She wrote a poem entitled “What Would You Do?” which was published in “Poetry Gems 2000,” by the Famous Poets Society. The book is now in the Library of Congress. She also wrote the “African American Pledge” that has gone from coast to coast.
